The Calling to Go

Jesus Has All Authority and He Sends Us

  • Jesus came near and said to them, “All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth.   Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age. Matthew 28: 18-20 CSB

Three Responses to God’S Call

  1. Jonah: Here I am. I’m not going.

    • “Go to the great city of Nineveh and preach against it, because its wickedness has come up before me.” But Jonah ran away from the LORD... Jonah 1:2-3 NIV

  2. Moses: Here I am. Send someone else.

    • So now, go. I am sending you to Pharaoh to bring my people the Israelites out of Egypt.” But Moses said to God, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?” Exodus 3:10-11 NIV

  3. Isaiah: Here I am. Send me.

    • Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!” Isaiah 6:8 NIV

The Command to Go is for Every Believer

  • For we are his workmanship, created  in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared ahead of time  for us to do. Ephesians 2:10 CSB

  • Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit Matthew 28:19 CSB

How Will They Hear if We Don’t Go?

  • For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. How, then, can they call on him they have not believed in? And how can they believe without hearing about him?  And how can they hear without a preacher?  And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news. Romans 10: 13-15 CSB

The Call to Go Starts Where You Are

  • But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come on you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. Acts 1:8 CSB

God Doesn’t Call the Qualified — He Qualifies the Called

  • Then I heard the voice of the Lord asking: Who will I send? Who will go for us? I said: Here I am. Send me. Isaiah 6:8 CSB
